DANCING!
Many SSC alumni have secured their way into the postseason tournament. Upcoming will be a complete rundown of all players participating in the tournament......
NCAA Division III Mens Tournament:
Wartburg College-Luke Prater and the Wartburg Knights finished second in the IIAC to #3 ranked and undefeated Loras College. The Knights went 15-3-2 this year and Luke has been a mainstay in the starting lineup all year long as a freshamn. Wartburg travels to Wisconsin-Oshkosh for a first round matchup this weekend. Best of luck Luke!!
Emory College-Pat Carver and the Eagles from Emory finished up the year 16-2-0 and have received a first round bye and face the winner of UC-Santa Cruz/Redlands. Those of you not familar with the layout of Division III soccer, Redlands and UC-Santa Cruz are from out West and are two of the strongest programs in DIII. Emory will host the second round game in Atlanta, good luck Pat!
Washington University(MO)-Josh Florez and WASH-U finished at 13-4-2 and earned a spot in this years tourney via an at-large bid. They will play Carthage from Wisconsin in the first round and if they win will play the winner of the Wisconsin-Whitewater/Dominican(IL) game.
NCAA Division II Womens Tournament:
Drury University- Freshman Karissa Nedoma and the Drury Panthers won the GLVC tourney title over UM-St Louis this past weekend in a penalty kick shootout. The tournament championship gave the Panthers a automatic bid into the D-II playoffs and they will face West Virginia Wesleyan in Edwardsville, Illinois this Friday night. The title in the GLVC and tournament bid are both firsts for the up and coming Panther women's team. Well done Karissa and good luck this weekend in Edwardsville!!
Tourney and club facts:
This years Divison III Final Four will be held at the Disney Complex near Orlando, Florida. There are some very strong ties to DIII soccer on the staff at SSC. Jeremy is a graduate of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, so Luke will have some bragging rights if they can beat the Titans. Zach played at Loras College for his 4 years of college soccer and has been excited to see the Duhawks rise to #3 in the nation this year and have an undefeated record of 20-0-1. Eric is a graduate of West Texas A&M from the Divison II ranks. A&M won their conference this year going 16-2 overall and are hosting the first round of games in Canyon,TX.
